What We Do

The BCMEA is proud to empower B.C.’s leading waterfront employers. We support our members by ensuring the health, safety and upskilling of B.C.’s shared waterfront workforce. Our services include robust labour relations support, enhanced safety and skills training delivery and advanced data analytics for workforce planning and the dispatch of labour.

Together with the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU), we help ensure skilled waterfront workers are in ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ place at ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ time.

Our work allows our members to do what they do best—keep port operations efficient, the supply chain resilient and the Canadian economy competitive.

Working with the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU), we ensure skilled waterfront workers are well-equipped to keep Canada’s supply chain moving safely and efficiently.

Our goal is to ensure smooth operations and foster a safe and productive workplace. Together with our members, we drive excellence and innovation and shape a resilient future for B.C.’s maritime sector.

The BCMEA’s members are world-class terminal operators, ocean carriers, stevedores and shipping agents who operate across ports from B.C.’s lower mainland, to Vancouver Island and up to Prince Rupert.

Our members are responsible for directly sustaining thousands of family-supporting jobs and supporting the social and economic well being of Canada.
